Ravens Community Care Fund

The Ravens Community Care Fund (RCCF) is a community assistance program of Ravens Youth Services created to provide compassionate, responsive and accountable support to individuals, families and communities experiencing financial hardship, unexpected emergencies, loss, crisis or other significant circumstances.  The Fund brings together community members, businesses, organizations, donors and volunteers to help address urgent needs that may otherwise leave individuals and families without adequate support.  Assistance may include direct financial support, payment toward essential expenses, donated goods and services, community fundraising, referrals, emergency resources or coordinated assistance from community partners.

Canada–Jamaica School Restoration Missions

December 2025 & February 2026

Following Hurricane Melissa, Ravens Youth Services joined the Community Leaders Coalition Alliance (CLC Alliance) and community partners to support school restoration and recovery efforts in Jamaica.

In December 2025 and February 2026, volunteer skilled trades and healthcare professionals travelled from Canada to Jamaica to assist schools identified by the National Education Trust (NET) Jamaica. During the first mission, 27 Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldiers worked alongside our skilled trades volunteers to help restore three schools, while healthcare volunteers provided wellness and emotional support.

Ravens Youth Services supported the initiative through fundraising, logistics, volunteer coordination, and the collection, sorting and packing of tools and supplies. Ravens Youth volunteers also helped prepare relief items shipped to Jamaica as part of the broader Hurricane Melissa response.

The missions were made possible through the generosity of volunteers, unions, businesses, government representatives and community organizations in both Canada and Jamaica.

More than rebuilding schools, this initiative demonstrated the power of community, skilled service and international collaboration to help communities recover and rebuild.

Brampton One Love Hurricane Melissa Relief Initiative

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica, RYS joined community leaders, volunteers, businesses and the City of Brampton to support the Brampton One Love Hurricane Melissa Relief Hub.

With the support of Mayor Patrick Brown, Brampton City Council, the Brampton Fire Department and community partners, the former Fire Hall at 8 Rutherford Road South was transformed into a community relief centre. Operating seven days a week, volunteers received, sorted, packed and prepared urgently needed donations for communities affected by the hurricane.

Through an incredible outpouring of community support, four 40-foot containers filled with food, hygiene products, medical supplies, clothing, school materials, water and other emergency essentials were prepared and shipped to Jamaica.

Ravens Youth Services volunteers and community partners played an important role throughout the initiative, contributing countless hours to collecting donations, sorting supplies, packing containers and coordinating logistics.

Out of tragedy came an extraordinary demonstration of unity, compassion and One Love—showing what can happen when an entire community comes together to help others in a time of crisis.
